Lifting pallets safely requires proper technique and adherence to safety guidelines. When lifting pallets, it is crucial to use proper lifting equipment. Whenever possible, use mechanical lifting aids such as pallet lifters/elevators or pallet jacks to handle heavy or bulky pallets.
Ergonomic Tools for Safer Lifting and Injury Prevention
These tools are designed to minimize the risk of injuries and make lifting easier. MHA supply a large range of pallet elevators and lifters so that this task is performed safely and appropriately.
The Powered Rotatable Electric Lift Table is electric up and down via pendant control and electric rotating top. It is ideal for varying weight pallets as there’s no need to change springs. Powered Rotation in both directions which can be set to rotate continuously. This pallet lift table can be easily moved around factory with a forklift.
MHA’s Galvanised Spring Pallet Elevator with Pallet Truck Base keeps the active layer of the load at or above waist height, eliminating bending and lifting. This pallet elevator can be moved with a standard Pallet Truck. It proves highly effective at reducing the incidences of repetitive strain and back injury. The construction of the pallet elevator is a scissor type action with varying springs which can be adjusted for different heights. The featured turntable allows the operator to rotate the pallets with minimal stretching and reaching.
The Bishamon UniLift All-in-One Pallet Transporter can lift and transport a standard pallet without straddling it. This pallet lifter compatible with standard GMA pallets, CHEP pallets or skids. The UniLift can handle loads up to 900kgs and reaches a height of up to 915mm (Unloaded). Fitted with high quality polyurethane wheels, the UniLift easily transports loads. This is a dual-purpose product, allowing for both transport and load lifting.
Hi Lift Pallet Trucks (Electric) are great for lifting skids and pallets with no bottom rail. They are extremely easy to pump and light weight. Pallet jacks quick-lifts as standard with automatic transfer to normal lifting loads over.
Safety Precautions Before Attempting to Lift a Pallet:
- Before attempting to lift a pallet, it’s critical to evaluate its weight and stability.
- Ensure that the load is within your lifting capacity and properly secured on the pallet. It’s always vital to determine the best approach to lift the pallet.
- Clear any obstacles from the lifting path and make sure there is enough space to manoeuvre safely.
- Ensure that you have a secure hold on the pallet before lifting.
- Use both hands to grip the pallet firmly, and avoid grasping the slats or protruding objects that may cause injury. It’s also very important to avoid sudden movements;
- Lift and lower the pallet in a controlled and gradual manner.
- Avoid jerking or twisting motions that can strain your muscles or cause the load to become unstable.
